Béla Fleck is an American musician known for completely changing what people think a banjo can do. Born in New York City in 1958, he blended bluegrass with jazz, classical, and world music, making the instrument sound far more versatile than its country roots. As the leader of the Flecktones, he pushed boundaries with complex, energetic performances, and he’s won multiple Grammy Awards across different genres, something few artists achieve.
