Doyle Lawson is a Kentucky-born bluegrass singer and mandolin player known for his smooth, high harmonies and tight vocal arrangements. Born in 1944, he first gained attention playing with major groups like the Country Gentlemen and J.D. Crowe before forming his own band, Quicksilver, in the late 1970s. His style mixes traditional gospel and bluegrass with a polished, almost choir-like sound, and he became one of the most respected vocal leaders in the genre, earning multiple awards and a spot in the Bluegrass Hall of Fame.
