    Formed in London in the middle 1970s, Squeeze blended new wave bounce with Beatles-style melodies and lyrics. Their songwriting duo of Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook were often called the “Lennon and McCartney of the '80s,” thanks to their knack for turning kitchen drama into catchy choruses. Hits like “Cool for Cats” and “Up the Junction” were mini soap operas set to music.
