Formed in Los Angeles in 1971, they started as backing musicians for Linda Ronstadt before soaring on their own. With members like Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner (and later Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit), they crafted smooth harmonies and laid-back vibes that defined the '70s. Their songs “Take It Easy,” “Desperado,” and “Hotel California” are stories told by music you can listen to over and over and not get bored. Their hits were massive, with Hotel California becoming one of the most iconic albums ever. Although they broke up in 1980 and famously said they'd reunite "when hell freezes over," they surprised everyone by doing just that in 1994, with an album and tour literally called Hell Freezes Over.
