    Rare Earth was a Detroit band that blended psychedelic rock, hard rock, soul, funk, and blues into a powerful, high-energy sound. Emerging in the late 1960s, they became one of the first successful rock acts signed to Motown, scoring major hits with Get Ready, I Just Want to Celebrate, and (I Know) I'm Losing You. They were also significant because Motown named its rock-oriented record label after them, due to their long improvisational jams and driving rhythms making them favorites of both rock and soul audiences. Their early albums contain strong psychedelic rock influences, particularly their extended live performances and guitar-driven arrangements.
