Bad Company’s self-titled debut album was released in 1974. It was recorded in a countryside mansion using a mobile studio, which gives the whole thing a raw, unpolished sound. The band was a supergroup of sorts, with members from Free, Mott the Hoople, and King Crimson, and they wasted no time making a statement. Tracks like “Can’t Get Enough” and “Bad Company” became rock radio royalty. The album shot straight to number one in the U.S., and its gritty, blues-infused sound helped define hard rock for the decade.
