    The Jimmie Rodgers Memorial Album (1976) is a no-frills introduction to the man who helped lay the foundation for country music. This Pickwick/Camden LP pulls together eight of Jimmie Rodgers’ original recordings, including “Blue Yodel (T for Texas),” “Frankie and Johnny,” “Away Out on the Mountain” and “The Brakeman’s Blues.” These are Rodgers’ actual late-1920s recordings, not later remakes, giving the album a wonderfully old-time sound full of blues, country and his unmistakable yodel.
