Le Roux’s second album, Keep The Fire Burnin’, finds the Louisiana six-piece stretching beyond straight Southern rock and adding even more funk, R&B, soulful harmonies and jazzy touches to their sound. Released by Capitol in 1979, it features the lively “Feel It,” the driving “Thunder N’ Lightnin’,” and the laid-back “Back to the Levee,” along with Le Roux's own take on Otis Redding’s “Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa (The Sad Song).” The result is a warm, groove-heavy record with plenty of musicianship and that true Gulf Coast character. This is an excellent choice for vinyl listeners who like their Southern rock with a little more soul and sophistication.
