Linda Ronstadt took a sharp left turn into the new decade with Mad Love, trading some of her familiar country-rock sound for a punchier pop-rock sound. Released in 1980, the album finds her tackling three Elvis Costello songs, along with material from L.A. pop band The Cretones, while still showing off the big, expressive voice that made her famous. Mad Love proved Ronstadt could change with the times without losing what made her special, becoming one of her most adventurous albums of the period.
