Drinking Gasoline is a 1985 EP from Cabaret Voltaire that captures the group right as they were shifting from their early experimental noise roots into a sharper, more electronic, club‑leaning sound. It’s built around four long tracks: “Kino,” “Sleepwalking,” “Big Funk,” and “Ghost Talk”, all recorded at their Western Works studio in Sheffield. The music leans heavily on looping rhythms, early sampling gear, and a cold, mechanical groove that became a signature for them in the mid-1980s. The release was paired with a companion video project called Gasoline in Your Eye, which turned each track into a visual piece, showing how much the band was experimenting with multimedia at the time.
