Truth/Beck-Ola is a two-LP set that collects Jeff Beck’s first two major statements with the Jeff Beck Group, and it’s a great way to hear the band getting heavier in real time. Truth (1968) introduced Beck alongside Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood, mixing British blues with a classic rock edge; Beck-Ola (1969) pushes that sound further, with big guitar riffs, Stewart’s unmistakable vocals and a pair of Elvis Presley covers. Together, the 17 tracks capture Beck at the crossroads of blues and the heavier classic rock that was taking shape around him.
