Byrds is The Byrds’ 1973 reunion album and the final studio record from the legendary group. It brought original members Roger McGuinn, Gene Clark, David Crosby, Chris Hillman and Michael Clarke together again, making it a particularly interesting piece of the band’s history. Instead of trying to recreate their famous ’60s sound, the album leans into laid back country and folk mixed with a classic rock sound, with highlights including Gene Clark’s “Full Circle,” David Crosby’s “Laughing” and their takes on two Neil Young songs. It reached No. 20 in the U.S., making it their strongest charting album of new material since 1965. For The Byrds, this album was not about recreating the past, but more about getting five influential musicians together one last time.
