Pack Up the Plantation: Live! is Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers’ first official live album, and it’s a seriously fun snapshot of the band at the height of their powers. Released in 1985 as a double LP, it brings together performances from several tours, with most of the album coming from their 1985 shows at Los Angeles’ Wiltern Theatre. You get plenty of Petty staples: “American Girl,” “Refugee,” “Breakdown,” “The Waiting” and “You Got Lucky”,  alongside great covers like “So You Want to Be a Rock ’n’ Roll Star” and “Shout.” Stevie Nicks also joins Petty for “Needles and Pins” and “Insider,” adding an extra bit of magic. If you want to hear Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers sounding loose, loud and completely at home on stage, this is that vinyl record.
