Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap is AC/DC’s third studio album, originally dropped in Australia in 1976, but weirdly, it didn’t hit the U.S. until 1981, five years later and after Bon Scott had already passed away. The whole thing is a rebellious punch to the gut of polite society, with songs that sound like they were written in a murky biker bar at 2 a.m. The title track is infamous for its sneaky phone number reference and heavy breathing backing vocals, which somehow made it even more mischievous. Bon Scott’s vocals are raw and full of pomposity, and Angus Young’s guitar riffs are like one chainsaw cutting down a whole forest at once. The album has a track that seems out of place, called “Ride On,” which is unusually mellow for AC/DC, like the band paused their party to look out the window for a minute. All in all though, this album is loud, it’s dirty, and it’s full of attitude!
