Greatest Hits, Volume II captures Johnny Paycheck right when his career was firing on all cylinders. Released by Epic in 1978, this collection brings together the tough, plain spoken country that made Paycheck a working class favorite, including “Take This Job and Shove It,” “I’m the Only Hell (Mama Ever Raised),” “Slide Off of Your Satin Sheets,” and “Georgia in a Jug.” Rather than being a deep dive into his whole career, it’s a snapshot of the hard-living, honky-tonk side of Paycheck at his late ’1970s peak. It's an easy entry point for anyone discovering him on vinyl record.
