Marvin Gaye’s Live At The London Palladium captures one of R&B and soul music’s greatest voices in full concert mode, recorded during his October 1976 performances at London’s famous Palladium. Originally released as a double LP in 1977, it moves effortlessly from the sensual “Let’s Get It On” and “Distant Lover” to powerful medleys of Motown classics and songs from What’s Going On. The set closes with the nearly 12-minute “Got To Give It Up,” a studio-recorded disco-funk masterpiece that became one of Gaye’s biggest hits. With its mix of romance, soul, funk and classic Motown, this is a fantastic snapshot of Marvin Gaye as both a superstar and a captivating live performer.
