Merle Haggard’s It's Not Love (But It's Not Bad) is a down-to-earth country album about complicated relationships, heartbreak, and the kind of love that doesn’t always turn out the way you hoped. Backed by his talented band, The Strangers, Merle Haggard delivers his signature honest vocals over classic country guitar, steel guitar, fiddle, and piano. The title track became a No. 1 country hit, and the album itself also topped the Billboard country albums chart, making it a standout release from his early-’70s run. From the bluesy feel of “New York City Blues” to the reflective “Somewhere to Come When It Rains,” this record is a great example of traditional country storytelling with plenty of heart and a little hard-earned wisdom.
