Released in 1975, this was Aerosmith's third album, and the one that truly blew the doors open. The band had been grinding it out in clubs for years, and all that sweat paid off here. Recorded in New York’s Record Plant studio, the album is a mix of gritty blues, hard rock, and wild imagination. “Sweet Emotion” and “Walk This Way” became rock staples, with “Walk This Way” later getting a second life thanks to Run-DMC. The title track plays on the phrase “toys in the attic,” meaning going a little crazy, and that manic energy runs through the whole record. Steven Tyler’s voice is sharper, Joe Perry’s guitar riffs are nastier, and the whole band sounds like they’re finally firing on all cylinders. It’s loud, it’s clever, and it’s the moment Aerosmith found their true groove on the rock scene.
