The Temptations’ Puzzle People captures the group at an exciting turning point, blending their trademark vocal harmonies with the deeper grooves and socially aware messages of late-1960s soul. Released in 1969, this Motown classic features the unique sound of producer Norman Whitfield, who helped push the group toward a tougher, funkier style. From the driving rhythm of “I Can’t Get Next to You” to the thoughtful message of “Don’t Let the Joneses Get You Down,” the album balances dance energy with songs that reflect the changing times. It’s a fantastic pick for fans of vintage soul vinyl records with both groove and substance.

Genre/s: Soul, Funk, R&B
For Fans Of: Sly & the Family Stone, The Isley Brothers, Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops
Official Release Date: September 23, 1969
Notes: “I Can’t Get Next to You” reached No. 1 on the US pop singles chart.
